Post-Doctoral Scientist;
The Center for Ocean–Land–Atmosphere Studies (COLA) is seeking
applicants for a post-doctoral position in regional climate
modeling.
The successful candidate will conduct dynamic downscaling of the
NCEP CFS coupled seasonal forecasts for both the North American
and the South American monsoons. This project will also involve
assessing the potential for dynamic downscaling of seasonal
forecasts for hydrological forecasts for some of the major river
basins in the domain. Expertise in either the North American or the
South American monsoon is preferred. A Ph.D. in atmospheric
sciences, hydrology or a related discipline is required. Familiarity
with coding and running regional atmospheric models,
programming experience in FORTRAN and familiarity with UNIX are

The position is available for a period of 3 years, renewable every
year subject to satisfactory progress.
COLA is a center in the Institute of Global Environment and Society
( w w w.iges.or g ) located in the suburbs of Washington DC, together
with the Center for Research on the Environment and Water and the
George Mason University Climate Dynamics department, and is in
