STG, Inc., Government Contractor for the National Climatic Data Center
(NCDC) in Asheville, NC, is recruiting for a Computer
Programmer to provide support to the Upper Air Program in the NCDC Data
Processing Branch. Qualifying applicants should hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in either Physical Science, Atmospheric Science,
Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or have equivalent
working experience.
Prerequisites for the position are three years of experience working
with a Linux/Unix operating system and Object Oriented
programming languages such as C++ and Java, as well as working
knowledge of other higher order programming languages to include
FORTRAN and C with three years of large-scale database server
experience such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgresSQL. Candidates will be
required to write and keep up-to-date user and developer-level
documentation and have experience in working with scientific
environmental data sets, data structures, and formats such as NetCDF or
HDF and version-control systems such as CVS and/or Subversion.
This is a full time, permanent position working 8:00 am - 4:30 pm,
